The Big Ball Game

The boys were bothering me the other day and I made Isaac pretty upset--Adrianne says I spanked him for something, but I don't remember. In any case, after he got upset, I figured I'd better help him to feel better, so I created The Big Ball Game to play with the boys.

We basically take turns rolling the que ball to knock the other balls out of the "circle".

What a good dad, not about the spanking part, but about the game part.

Why do you have pool balls?
Did you use marbles as your inspiration?

That looks like a fun game? Do you have a pool table in your basement/garage/out back.

I bought those billiard balls when I was in college--my friend, Kirk, and I decided one day to become really good pool players. We played pretty regularly for a few weeks. The place we played at on campus had crumby balls, so I bought some for us to use. I wish I had a pool table, but those cost a lot more than the balls and take up a lot more space.

Marbles was my inspiration, but marbles don't roll well on carpet and are a lot harder for the little boys to control.
