Everyone in Adrianne's family has expressed how sad they are about President Hinkley's death. Maybe I am just less sensitive than they are; I mostly feel happy for him--if I feel anything at all.
I was shocked at first, I guess I haven't paid attention to the signs and thought he was still well and healthy. (A friend mentioned that she noticed last conference that he was slower and older seeming.) I also cried a little. Then Jason asked what the heck was wrong with me. He reminded me that now President Hinckley gets to be with his wifey, whom he adored. That helped me feel better.
We talked about it in FHE last night. Trying to explain to the kids what it all meant. They were really cute about it. Austin asked if we got to vote for the new Prophet. He just spent the last month in school talking about voting and democracy.
I kind of thought: Lucky guy, now he can finally get a break and be with his wife again. We are so blessed to know that we have a new prophet and the gospel is still true and will continue on.
A friend had called Sunday night to tell us. Laura felt sad at first, but we talked about the same things: Now he gets to be with his wife, he'll get to take part in teaching is spirit prison etc. I remember thinking as a missionary that Pres. Hinckley might pass on before my mission was over. One of the bad things about the pictures we have of the general authorities is that I start to think of the men as staying that old. When I see them in conference, I'm always surprised to see how much older they look. Especially when their hair changes color... PS I just deleted the comment above because the last one had some spelling that I corrected.
