What do you think?

I got an email (I will send it to you all so you can see it) about Julie Beck's general conference talk. Apparently there has been alot of discussion on the internet about it. I wanted to see what some people were saying. I found these two links and would love you all to check them out and read some of the comments. What do you think?http://www.kvnuforthepeople.com/?p=893

I'll just say it is all intersting. I subscribe to a google news alert that prompts me any time a news article contaings "Gordon Hinckley". The articles are frequently interesting and often the comments afterwards are even more interesting. The trouble is I sometimes read things I wished I hadn't. There is a lot of good information available on the internet, but I have to be careful what I spend my time reading. Have fun!!! -Ralph

I was just surprised to see so many people upset about the talk. I thought it was wonderful and felt moved by the spirit to become better. It is sad to see that people have a hard time supporting a woman that not only called by a prophet but called of God. I was shocked to see people say that she wasn't in tune with the culture of women in the church today. Anyway, it is very disappointing to me. I am glad I don't associate with people like that and that my friends and family would never talk like that about a leader. I agree with you that you have to be careful what you read. But don't worry, I would never get caught up in those types of discussions with such negativity about leaders.

I remember sitting in that meeting and feeling like I had a lot to work on after hearing her speak.

A few weeks later I was at a RS lunch with a few friends. We talked about her talk, with most of the sisters saying that it made them feel like they were not living up to their potential. (friend with six kids feeling like she hasn't done her part to multiply and replenish the earth!)

Anyway, never did it occur to me to complain or disagree. We should work harder. We do need to take care of our houses and families. I didn't hear anything new, nothing that I haven't heard before. The commandments haven't changed. It is strange to me that so many people think that they will because the times have changed...hello!

Anyway, I thought it was an excellent talk and that it just reminded me of my main purpose on earth!
