I am looking to you smart techie people to tell me the difference between LCD, LED and plasma TVs. What do we want? Why would we want it, etc. It is time for us to update and replace but we know next to nothing about what to get in this modern world. If you know "stuff", please share it!
Thanks!

Mandy,
I tried to reply to this once before, but then I realized I didn't really have a good answer for you. I'm not really sure what the difference is between LCD and LED TVs. At first I was going to tell you that they are the same thing, but apparently, when a company says their TV is an LED TV that means it uses LED for the backlighting...but I don't understand enough of that for it to mean anything to me. I do know that plasma TVs don't come in the smaller sizes, and that they can permanently "burn" an image into the screen if it's there for too long. We've had an LCD TV/computer monitor for 5 years or so and we've been very happy with it. It's not huge, 32", but it's a good size. It's only 720 (the lower resolution), but again, it's much better than the older TVs ever looked. My suggestion would be to go to a store and look at all the TVs and when you see the difference between them, you can read the tag/info plaque to see what is different (or you could ask the guys who's bothering you and trying to sell one to you). Then, once you figure out what you think is best, go home and look online for a similar TV and buy it for less. I like www.newegg.com ... there might be better places, too.
